Welcome to Year 2!
Class Teachers: Miss Ryan, Miss Vickerman, Miss Matkin and Miss Armitstead
Children in year 2 have many wonderful learning experiences throughout the year.
At Southey Green, we promise to provide our children with 6 unique experiences in each year group. We call these 'Southey's Super Six'. These tasks give our children something to look forward to each year and in places, provide an opportunity that the children may not have previously had.
Our Learning In Year Two
Design and Technology- Smoothie Making
In Year 2, we have really enjoyed learning about the process of designing, making and evaluating a healthy smoothie in Design and Technology this half term! First, we discussed which fruits could go in our smoothies by considering our favourite flavours and by looking at different recipes. We also learnt about the five food groups and thought about how to prepare food safely and hygienically. Then, we practised cutting, grating and peeling to prepare a delicious fruit smoothie. Finally, we got to taste and evaluate our work. Most of us really enjoyed the sweet taste and we even suggested some different fruits that we could try to include next time.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
