Children in year 2 have many wonderful learning experiences throughout the year. 

At Southey Green, we promise to provide our children with 6 unique experiences in each year group. We call these 'Southey's Super Six'. These tasks give our children something to look forward to each year and in places, provide an opportunity that the children may not have previously had.

Within our English unit, all about the Troll in the Three Billy Goats Gruff, we re-enacted the story using freeze frames and used Stop-motion to create our own short film. We then looked at the Wolf from the Three Little Pigs and used coal to express his personality.

In maths, we have been looking at measurement, exploring length in centimetres and meters and comparing weight using simple scales.

Some of our Y2 children were invited to take part in a gymnastics festival at Hillsborough Leisure Centre, alongside the other schools in our Trust. They had a fantastic afternoon learning new skills and using some exciting equipment. We have some budding gymnasts in our classes!
