Thursday 16th March was the Sheffield Primary Schools Gold Awards ceremony. This was held in The Owen Building in Sheffield where 222 children from 24 different schools in Sheffield were invited to wear a cap & gown for the evening and receive their Gold certificate and badge in front of family, friends and guest speakers. Deputy Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Councillor Anne Murphy presented each child with their certificate. 97 of those 222 invited were from Southey Green Primary School & Nurseries.
Many children that were invited this year from Southey Green Primary were not just collecting their Gold certificate…..they were collecting an even higher achievements such as Ruby Gold for 130 hours and Ruby Silver for 165 hours. Georgia Taylor collected a very special 2000 hours award on behalf of all the children in Children’s University to celebrate this huge achievement.
Gold Awards Ceremonies are held twice each year to reward students that have gained 100 hours of extra-curricular learning through activities of their choice either in school or across various learning destinations throughout Sheffield with a Passport to Learning.
We can’t do this without the commitment of teaching staff and support staff that run these fantastic activities throughout the week either at breakfast clubs, lunch clubs, after school activities and holiday activities, so thank you for all the exciting opportunities and experiences that you continue to provide to our children.
A massive well done to all the students who have participated in their own development and achievements this year and were presented with their Gold certificates.
